Contributory Parent Visa Subclass 143/173

Australian Contributory Parent Visa for Subclass 143/173 allows parent to stay with their child in Australia. This visa permits  parents to live in Australia with their child who is an Australia citizen, permanent resident or an eligible New Zealand citizen. The Contributory Parent Visa Subclass 173 is a temporary visa where as Contributory Parent Visa Subclass 143 is a permanent visa. From 1st July 2018, you can no longer apply to parent visa in person. You have to send the visa application to the Perth Visa and Citizenship Office by post or courier.

Contributory Parent Visa has two sub classes:

1) Contributory Parent Visa Subclass 143

2)Contributory Parent Visa Subclass 173

The Contributory Parent Visa Subclass 143 allows you to live and stay in Australia on the permanent basis  if your child is an Australian citizen, permanent resident or an eligible New Zealand citizen.

Requirements of this visa

1. You should be sponsored by your child who is an Australian citizen, permanent resident or an eligible New Zealand citizen.
2. Applicant must meet the health and character requirements.
3. You should be the holder of Subclass 173 visa.
4. You should not have any outstanding debts from an Australian government.
5. You must qualify the balance of family test i.e. your half of the children live in Australia or more children live in Australia than any other country.

Note : You can also apply for Parent Visa Subclass 103 which has less cost than Subclass 143 visa but in this case you might have to wait for 30 years for the process to be completed.

2)Temporary Contributory Parent Visa Subclass 173

The Australia Contributory Parent Visa Subclass 173 allows you to live and stay in Australia on the temporary basis if your child is Australian citizen, permanent citizen or an eligible New Zealand citizen. If you have the access of this visa and want to stay in Australia permanently then, you should apply for this visa.

Subclass 173 visa requirements

If you are willing to apply for this visa, you have to go through the below-given requirements:

1. 1. You should meet the health and character requirements.
   2. You have to meet the requirements of the balance-of-family-test i.e. half of your children are permanent residents in Australia.
   3. Applicant should qualify the balance of a family sheet.
   4. You should not have any outstanding debts from the Australian Government.
   5. Applicant must be sponsored by your child who is an Australian citizen, permanent citizen or an eligible New Zealand citizen.
   6. If your child is less than 18 years of age, then you can be sponsored by :

a)Your child’s partner, who is more than 18 years of age and is Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen.

b)You can even be sponsored by the relative or guardian of your child.

c)By community organization.
