The Australia Skilled Regional Subclass 489 visa is a temporary visa allows an individual to live and work in regional or designated areas of Australia for the duration of four years. The candidates have to live for at least two years in a state and should have minimum work experience in the designated area of country to transform Subclass 489 visa to Permanent Residency. For being eligible to apply, you must receive nomination from state/territory government or sponsorship from the relatives living in designated area of Australia.

Two pathways to apply for the visa –

a) Sponsorship from the Relatives

If you are sponsored by relatives then, you have to live in the designated area of the Australia up to four years. The sponsor should be more than 18 years of age and live in the designated area of the Australia.

The sponsor should be your:

a) child/step-child or parent/grand parent

b) aunt,uncle,brother,sister,nephew,niece

c) adopted brother/sister, step brother/sister

Nomination from the State/territory Government

If you are being nominated by the state/territory government, you have to live in low-metropolitan area of that state/territory. The terms and conditions of the visa of every state/territory differs.

Eligibility Requirement of the Skilled Regional Provisional Subclass 489 Visa

The candidates who are willing to migrate to Australia have to fulfill the checklist to be eligible.

1. Must be less than 45 years.
2. Must have sponsorship from State/Territory Government or nomination from relatives living in a designated area of Australia.
3. Proficient in the English Language.
4. Meet health and character requirements.
5. Your occupation should be on the Skilled Occupation List Australia (SOL).
6. Must have positive skills assessment from the recognized authority.
7. Submit Expression of interest (EOI).
8. Must score at least 65 points on the points system. Factors like Age, Qualification, Work experience, English Language Skills etc plays an important role in the points system.
9. Receive an Invitation to apply (ITA).

Process to apply for Australia Skilled Regional Provisional Subclass 489 visa

Candidates have to go through following steps in order to file the Visa application:

1. The applicant should get done their complete skills assessment of the nominated occupation with the accredited government body. Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) will come to an conclusion after seeing your skills assessment that whether you are qualified enough to work in Australia in your chosen occupation.

     2. After receiving positive skills assessment, you can submit Expression of Interest (EOI). If eligible, you will be invited under Skill select program.

3. If finalized, you will receive Invitation to apply (ITA). You have to apply for Skilled Regional (Provisional) Subclass 489 Visa within 60 days after receiving the Invitation to apply. Before applying for this visa, you must be nominated by State/Territory government or sponsored by eligible relatives living in a designated area of Australia.

4. Candidates have to submit all the required documents mentioned in the visa application to avoid delays in processing time.
