Alberta Latest Express Entry Selection Draw invited 294 candidates

Alberta’s Latest Express Entry Selection Draw issued invitation to apply to a total of 300 express entry candidates to apply for a provincial nomination to apply for Canada permanent residence.  Out of 300, approximately 294 candidates required minimum of 400 points under Express Entry’s Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) to receive invitation from the Alberta Government. This draw invited doubled candidates as compared to the previous draw August 15, where invitations were given to 121 candidates.

If we compare this minimum score with the lowest score drawn in 2019 on January 30 via Federal Express Entry invitation, there is a decrease of 38 points.  Alberta has issued 5,236 invitations to Express Entry candidates so far this year in its 23 draws.

Canada Express Entry System

Canada’s Express Entry System operates the pool of candidates of three main-economic Immigration categories – the Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class, and Canadian Experience Class.  The score is given to candidates on the basis of factors such as age, education, skilled work experience and English/French proficiency and are ranked in the pool depending on their CRS score.

Express Entry candidates who receive invitation to apply (ITA) to apply for a provincial nomination receive additional 600 CRS points. With the additional points, candidates get the top position in the Express Entry pool resulting in guarantying invitation to apply for Canada PR in a coming Express Entry draw that takes place every fortnight.

Alberta Express Entry System

Express Entry Candidates with strong ties in the Alberta province or working in an occupation that is in demand in the province and give weightage to the Alberta’s economic development and diversification priorities are eligible to apply for the Alberta Express Entry Stream for Canada permanent residence.  At present, there is no list of eligible occupations available in the province. Only Express Entry candidates with invitation by the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program are eligible to apply for a provincial nomination through Alberta Express Entry System.

Candidates meeting below-given requirements are considered on a top priority under the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP)-

1. A job offer/ work experience in Alberta;
2. A Canadian post-secondary institution degree and a valid job offer; or,
3. A parent, child, or sibling already living in Alberta
